Narrative Statement Of Supplemental EEO Outreach Activities:
1. KTPK participates in job/career fairs through attendance by station personnel who have substantial responsibilities in making hiring decisions.
KTPK participated in a career fairs at Washburn University in February 2013 and September 2013. The station’s Promotions Director, General Manager, New Media Director and Program Director attended.
2. KTPK provides training to management level personnel as to methods of ensuring equal opportunity and preventing discrimination.
KTPK Management Training of EEO Procedures.
KTPK Department Managers met on January 2013 to review EEO hiring procedures and discussed methods to ensure equal employment opportunities and preventing discrimination. Subjects discussed included: Dissemination of EEO information; Recordkeeping and reporting requirements; Satisfying FCC for Supplemental EEO Outreach Activities; and other EEO related material.
3. KTPK participates in programs designed to assist students interested in pursuing a career in broadcasting. We have had 5 interns in the past year interning for college credits.
KTPK General Manager taught a “Creative Advertising” class at Washburn University Spring and fall semesters, 2013.
KTPK General Manager (Jim Allan) participates in the Kansas Association of Broadcasters scholarship program. The purpose of the scholarship fund is to support potential and commitment in promising future broadcasters, encourage a high standard of professionalism in the industry, foster a strong relationship between higher education and the profession and promote a greater understanding of journalistic ethics and societal responsibility of broadcasters.
The Kansas Association of Broadcasters makes available several thousand dollars annually in scholarship awards. KTPK contributed by airing a schedule of public service announcements announcing the scholarships available and provided application forms to individuals who wished to apply for the scholarships.
4. KTPK conducts an intern program designed to assist members of the community to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment.
We have had 2 interns in the last year learning the skills needed to enter the broadcast world.
KTPK’s internship program accepts applications from interested individuals. KTPK’s internship program is designed to provide students with an experienced - based understanding of a commercial broadcast radio station.
Students are afforded the opportunity to apply for a position with any of the departments. The interns receive hands
on experience in all aspects of the department in which assigned.

There is also attached hereto a narrative description of the station’s Supplemental EEO Outreach Activities (Attachment B).
Organizations that regularly distribute information about employment opportunities to job seekers or refer job seekers to employers may request KTPK (FM) to provide them with information about full-time openings at the station. Such requests must include the organization’s name, mailing address, e-mail address if applicable, telephone number and contact person, and identify the category or categories of job openings for which it requests notices.
